FAQs
Questions you might have
Here are answers to the most common questions I receive. If you don't see yours here, feel free to reach out.
Getting Started
Book a free 15-minute consultation through the website. We'll have a brief conversation about what's going on and whether we'd be a good fit. If we are, we'll schedule your first full session from there.
The first session is all about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what brought you to therapy, your history, and your goals. You can also ask me any questions. There's no pressure to dive deep right away — we go at your pace.
If you're asking this question, it probably is. Therapy is for anyone who wants support navigating life — you don't need to be in crisis. Book a free consult and we can talk about whether it's a good fit.
I work with adults (18+) across a range of backgrounds. I specialize in working with blue-collar workers, perfectionists, and people in addiction recovery — but I welcome anyone who's ready to do the work.
Sessions & Scheduling
Individual sessions are 50 minutes, held over secure video.
Most people start with weekly sessions and then may decide to space them out to every other week or monthly as things progress. This is based on your goals for therapy, needs, and schedule.
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll receive a link before each session — no downloads or accounts required. It works on your phone, tablet, or computer.
I'm licensed to provide online therapy to clients throughout Utah. All sessions are conducted virtually via secure video, so you can attend from anywhere in the state.
It depends on your goals. Some clients come for a few sessions to work through something specific; others stay longer for ongoing growth and support. We'll talk about it early on and revisit it as things progress. However, at every point throughout the whole process you always have control over whether you continue therapy.
Yes — what you share in session is confidential. There are a few legal exceptions (risk of harm to self or others, child/elder abuse), which I'll explain during our first session. Your privacy is my priority.
Payment & Insurance
Individual sessions (50 minutes) are $135. The initial 15-minute consultation is free. Payment is due at the time of your session.
I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide superbills — detailed receipts you submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many clients get 50–80% of session costs back this way.
A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes diagnosis codes, session dates, and fees. You submit it to your insurance company and they reimburse you directly based on your out-of-network benefits.
I accept all major credit and debit cards. Payment is processed securely through my practice management system.
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Each session time is held exclusively for you, so late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full $135 session fee.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before scheduling services. This helps you understand potential costs upfront. You can request one at any time.
General
No — as a therapist, I provide talk therapy only. If medication might be beneficial, I can refer you to a psychiatrist or coordinate with your existing prescriber.
I currently offer individual therapy only. If you're looking for couples work, I'm happy to provide referrals to colleagues who specialize in that area.
That's okay — and it happens! The therapeutic relationship matters more than anything. If it's not working, I'll help you find someone who's a better match. No hard feelings.
